President John Mahama has sworn in three new justices of Ghana’s Supreme Court following their approval by Parliament.
The three are Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah, Edward Amoako Asante and Anthony Forson Jnr. The ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House in Accra on 10 September. Parliament had approved the nominations on 27 August.
Bernasko-Essah and Asante served on the Court of Appeal before their elevation. Asante is a former president of the ECOWAS Court of Justice. Forson was a private legal practitioner and a former president of the Ghana Bar Association.
The Judicial Service’s current Supreme Court roster lists 21 members, including Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.
